Trey turned 30 a couple weeks ago. It was about time too. I'm really not that much older, but it seems like I've been in my 30's forever. I wanted to do something super special and creative for his 30th birthday, but he said all he wanted was to go to Cheesecake Factory and see a movie of his choosing. I guess going to the movie theater these days is pretty special, because the last time we were there was a year ago when I was still pregnant with Kylar. It's been a long, long time, since we've even ventured out of the house alone without Kylar strapped to us. (Our first date post baby was on New Year's Eve, and we went out for a very quick dinner.) Trey's birthday was our second date when we ventured out, after Kylar was fast asleep, to see a movie. Trey's mom was nice enough to stay home and watch the monitor for us.
For breakfast, Trey got a very healthy breakfast of chocolate chip waffles with strawberries and cool whip and sausage. Oh, and I can't forget the orange juice. Yes, orange juice or any juice for that matter is a special treat around here, because I don't buy it, ever. The only time I buy it is either for Trey's birthday or when his family comes to town and we had both over the weekend.
Ok, no need to call CPS on this picture. I know it looks like Trey is hovering Kylar over the flames, but she is actually not even close to them. She is trying with all her might to get to them, though.
Trey told me to surprise him with his cake. So, I found a cake that incorporated all of his favorite foods: chocolate (usually its the girl that is the chocolate lover, but in our case, Trey is the one that loves chocolate), cream cheese, peanut butter, sour cream and more chocolate. The chocolate glaze was supposed to drip ever so delicately down the side to make nice little elegant drips, but my glaze was more of an avalanche down the sides. It didn't turn out looking like the picture, but of man, was it yummy and so so so sweet.
Happy 30th Birthday, Trey! We love you so much!
